Do you provide face-to-face therapy in addition to online teletherapy?
No, I chose to have my practice be entirely online teletherapy so that I could reach and help more people.
Teletherapy is more convenient and efficient for both client and therapist. Clients say they feel more comfortable and secure in the familiarity of their own home. Plus, no one needs to deal with traffic, worry about finding a place to park, or spend valuable time driving and using up their gasoline.
Research suggests that teletherapy works as well as in-person therapy.
What is online teletherapy and how does it work?
Online teletherapy is any remote therapy that uses technology (computer or phone) for the client and therapist to communicate.
My clients are emailed a link that they just click on at the time of our appointment, and it takes them directly to the HIPAA-secure (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) platform that I use for confidential video therapy sessions. We check our audio and video settings to make sure that we can hear and see one another, and then we start our session. If you do not have a web camera, we also can have phone sessions or online teletherapy sessions with only audio.
How long is a typical session?
It is most important to me that you feel you are getting what you need from your therapy. I offer a free 20-minute phone consultation, which allows us to “meet and greet” and determine if we think that working together is best for meeting your needs.
Do you accept insurance?
No, I do not accept insurance. Should you decide to access your out-of-network provider benefits (if you have them) with your insurance, I will be happy to provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company.
For payment, I accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express. Credit card information is stored on the secure platform, and cards are charged automatically following the session to end on a therapy note and not worry about shifting gears to handle payments.
How do I make an appointment?
Just give me a call on my toll-free number (888) 221-DOVE (3683), and we can schedule either the free 20-minute consultation or your first online teletherapy appointment.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
What happens if there are technical difficulties during online teletherapy sessions?
With what types of clients do you work?
I work with adults usually over the age of 25. I work with men, women, and couples with diverse backgrounds. I am LGBTQIA friendly.
I specialize in helping people who are experiencing Depression and Anxiety, challenges related to Life Transitions, and women who are struggling with the stages of Menopause.
What can I expect in the first session?
During the first session, I will ask you questions about your current situation and what led you to seek therapy.
We will discuss some of your therapy goals and what you would consider being successful therapy. I will address any questions or concerns you may have regarding the therapeutic process, and we will lay out our expectations of one another.
How long will I be in therapy?
That is entirely up to you. It depends on the depth you want to go, what kinds of changes you want to make, and your level of commitment.
There are issues that will require more processing time, and there are issues that will have relief quickly when new skills and strategies are applied to current situations.
