Your personal workshop
Our lives are complex, with many interconnected pieces. When those pieces aren’t fitting together, life doesn’t feel good. Therapy provides a safe “workshop” to acquire and learn how to use new tools to fit pieces together.
The more tools you have in your toolbox, the better equipped you are for repairs and maintenance of the many areas of your life.
Therapy is about discovery.
It is a unique journey that allows you to explore the many facets of your life in a safe, understanding, and respectful space.
Sometimes self-discovery is uncomfortable. And sometimes, it is intriguing. You will learn to identify the patterns that land you in painful places and design new patterns that move you toward living the life you desire.
“When I discover who I am, I’ll be free.”
– Ralph Ellison
Surviving or thriving?
Too many times, you feel as though you are just surviving. It’s hard just getting through another day while trying to do the things you need to do.
What happened to the fun? Didn’t life used to be fun, at least some of the time?
Now, it’s just struggle, struggle, struggle. It’s just too much. There’s no energy left for fun.
Life is not supposed to just be survived; it’s supposed to be lived!
Let’s explore your hopes, desires, and dreams. Let’s come up with a plan and strategy to bring those back to life.
Let’s move you from surviving to thriving!
The Process
First, we will connect on the phone for a free 20-minute consultation. During that time, I will ask you some questions to learn more about your situation. You also will have an opportunity to ask questions of me. Through our discussion, we will determine if working together is the best fit to meet your needs.
If yes, then we will schedule our first appointment for online teletherapy. If we decide you would benefit more from other resources, then I will provide helpful referrals.
Once we have an appointment scheduled, I will send you an email with a link for filling out forms on the HIPAA-secure platform (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) that I use on the Internet to ensure confidentiality of your PHI (Protected Health Information). You can fill out the forms and sign right there on the platform. No need to print out, sign, scan, and send back. Easy and simple.
You will receive an email with the link to our online teletherapy session. You just click on that link at the time of our session, and we will meet via the secure video platform. No need to remember a user ID and password to login. Again, easy and simple.
Online teletherapy allows you to be in the comfort, safety, and familiarity of your own home to discuss sensitive issues. I will be in my private office for our online sessions.
During our first few sessions, we will spend time exploring more about the current situation you are seeking therapy for and some of the contributing factors. We will identify what’s important to you, where you want to be, and how you want to live. With those values in mind, we will create goals and plans for getting you there.
Symbolism of the Dove
“The dove represents peace of the deepest kind. It soothes and quiets our worried or troubled thoughts, enabling us to find renewal in the silence of the mind. Doves teach us that peace is always a touch away – within us – and always available, regardless of external circumstances. It is said that if a dove flies into your life, you are being asked to go within and release your emotional disharmony. The dove helps us to rid the trauma stored deep within our cellular memory. Doves carry the energy of promise. When inner conflicts are banished from our thoughts, words, and feelings, goodness awaits.”

About Me
Ever since I was young, people have entrusted sharing their personal trials and tribulations with me. They would say that I was a good listener, gave helpful feedback, and they felt better after spending time together. I genuinely enjoy being in service to others, and that is why I am on the path that I am on now.
In addition to my years of schooling and self-study, I have gained great insight and knowledge through my own times of personal discovery in therapy, all of which have made me a better therapist.
Truth is that everyone could benefit from therapy. If we all took some time for self-discovery and healing, the world would be a more peaceful place.
My undergraduate and graduate degrees in psychology and counseling were earned at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I received my professional licensure in 1997 through the North Carolina Board of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors.
I love North Carolina and working with the people of North Carolina.
Here’s something on a personal note.
My husband and I have been together since 1995 and share our own little piece of paradise with our rescued dogs and cats, along with the many squirrels and beautiful birds (yes, including my favorite, the doves) that visit our feeders.
Gardening and working on projects around the house occupy much of my spare time. Being outside enjoying nature, playing a round of golf, or paddling our canoe around on a calm lake are favorite activities.
I also have a love of horses and the profound impact they have had on my life. My joy in working with people and animals led me to become a PATH Intl. (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship Intl.) Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor, and I have been teaching therapeutic riding and horsemanship since 2011. It is truly a gift to see the transformation and progress my students have made through their connection with the horses. Oh, how I do love “horsing around!”
It would be a privilege to accompany you on your healing journey.
My desire is for you to experience the harmony of life you have always wanted. And for you to find the freedom and strength to “take flight” and land in a place of peace, health, and happiness.
Call me today, and let’s get started.
